The Birmingham Pussycats are the University of Birmingham’s multi-award winning cheerleading squad. We were originally founded in 2002, to cheer for the University’s American Football team, the Birmingham Lions.  Since then we have grown from strength to strength, and we still pride ourselves on attending all home and away games of the current BUCS champions.

 

We also participate in numerous cheer competitions. Since the 2011-2012 season, we have taken part in both Future Cheer and ICC Nationals competitions. In addition to this, we cheer and perform a half time routine at xpLosION (the first American Football game of the year), we have been featured on Britain's Got Talent and performed live routines on Soccer AM, the Superbowl parties at Walkabout and at a Jaguar launch.

 

The 2012-13 season has been a very successful one for us, seeing us place 1st in both Future Cheer and ICC Nationals, and winning Future Cheer Grand Champions.  Our hip hop squad have also been successful receiving 4th and 2nd places respectively.  We hope to continue our success in the coming season!

 

We pride ourselves on fundraising through bake sales, car washes and fundraising nights.  We are also a very social squad hosting an annual Christmas party, Summer Ball and Awards night as well as some crazy fancy dress socials throughout the year.
